Articulated College Credit
Hillyard Technical Center students may be eligible to receive free college credit for technical courses they have completed while in high school. The number of college credit hours available varies by program and the college with which it is affiliated.
Articulated college credit is earned while at Hillyard Technical Center but college credit hours are awarded only after the student enrolls in and completes a predetermined number of college hours in the degree program at the school issuing the credits. The student must maintain a minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.0 to receive the credit from all schools except Metropolitan Community College, which requires a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Additional qualifications may be placed on the ability to earn articulated credit including attendance, work ethic, and/or a letter of recommendation from their HTC instructor. Depending upon your eventual college major, the credit you have been awarded may or may not count toward a degree.
Advanced standing is also available toward apprenticeship hours in some of the building trade industries and health service fields.
For a complete list of eligibility information, requirements, and participating schools contact Shirley Day, Adult Program Coordinator, or Paula Stegeman, Counselor, at 816-671-4170.
